Former Northside volleyball standout Alexis Evans will continue her playing career.

On Thursday, Evans signed to play for Hendrix College in Conway.

“A big part of my decision to go to Hendrix had to do with my visit back in the fall,” Evans said. “I fell in love with the campus immediately and it gave me some vibes that made it feel like a home, not to mention it’s not very far from home.

“The academic level is high and I’m going to have to work hard and I take that very seriously. It’s also Division III, so that took away my ability to receive athletic scholarships, which most would see as a downside, but with my proneness to knee injuries and surgeries, it gives me a little bit of security because if I happen to hurt it again, I won’t lose my scholarships to go there.”

Evans, a 6-foot-1 middle/outside hitter, was second on the Lady Bears in kills as a senior this past season with 252, and she had a total of 451 kills in her last two seasons, with Northside reaching the 7A State Tournament on both of those occasions.

She was also second on the team in total blocks with 61. Evans recorded 120 digs, 141 service receptions and 26 aces as well.

“The volleyball team (at Hendrix) has a lot of energy and you can tell they love playing it, so with everything else that definitely sold me,” Evans said. “All together, it just felt like the right place for me.”
